Once when Queen Mary was visiting Nuuk, she was told off<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Back when Queen Mary was Crown Princess Mary, she was visiting Nuuk to take part in a large conference on the theme “Violence in the home – a shared responsibility”, and quite undeservedly found herself being told off by some very cross people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference was to put the focus on families exposed to violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But that is a quite different and more serious matter, which I will not tire you with here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now back to why the Queen was told off – because she really was!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In connection with her visit, the tailor and designer Jesper H\u00f8vring had sewn a fine new coat, which she was wearing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course a lot of good photos were taken of Mary, and<\/p>\n\n\n\n


in one of them she was wearing one of Jesper H\u00f8vring’s lovely coats<\/a> . (You can see the coat in the picture above.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is made partly of sealskin and partly of fabric. A really fine and very interesting combination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those photos of the coat reached Australia at the speed of light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Far away – in Australia – some people became as grumpy as cross old men.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Out there were some people from the Australian animal welfare organisation PETA, who were very indignant at seeing Mary in a coat sewn in that handsome mix of sealskin and fabric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So they immediately sent off an indignant protest to Amalienborg, in which they told Queen Mary off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Solely because she had chosen to put on a warm coat while she was at work in Greenland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I cannot help wondering at their reaction, <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

perhaps you feel the same way?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The coat is after all simply inspired by Greenland and the materials found in nature up there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Greenlandic late summer can be chilly, believe me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So it is a question of dressing warmly, and preferably with good style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Offhand I think that is something any woman in the whole world should be able to relate to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I read the news about the cross Australians, my first thought was that the good story about Greenlandic sealskin has not been explained clearly enough to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That must be why they are so grumpy that Mary put on a comfortable and warm sealskin coat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The poor woman has not done anything illegal!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

She went to a conference where the subject was how to bring more compassion into families and thereby also secure a better upbringing for the children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On top of that she chose to dress warmly in a handsome coat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honestly – who does not want to look good and be warm and comfortable at the same time?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Do you know anyone who would rather walk around freezing and looking dull in the meantime?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I certainly do not,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

and there is not even any reason to be indignant – not even if your good heart beats for animals<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Researchers and officials in the EU have stated many times that you do no harm to nature by choosing to wear sealskin.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
