Description

Classic Wallet in sealskin – made in 4 different sizes:

Mini, Petit, Classic and Maxi.

A wallet in sealskin is a good and practical friend that makes your everyday life easier.

Have you ever thought that you can have a very personal relationship with a wallet, because it holds both your “gold” and thus also shortcuts to your wishes and dreams?

A good wallet can be both a good, old-fashioned purse while at the same time it must also function as a fine little card index of the family’s health insurance cards, credit cards etc.

A little practical information about the classic wallet in 4 different sizes:

The wallet has a classic design and can hold a lot of things that you need in your everyday life.

Materials:

Greenland natural sealskin, called harp, and black leather

Colour:

The wallet is made in natural sealskin – called harp sealskin (see photo)

Closure:

You close the wallet with a strong and durable zip.

The zip has a smart leather pull around the zip, so it is easily pulled smoothly around the opening of the wallet.

Measurements and number of compartments:

The wallet is made in 4 different sizes:

A cute little wallet in micro size – called “Mini”:

“Mini” has 2 card compartments, two compartments for notes and miscellaneous, and a separate compartment with zip closure for coins in the middle.

It has sealskin on both sides, so it is lovely and soft to hold in your hand.

  • Width: 7.5 cm
  • Length: 10 cm
  • Depth: 2 cm

A neat little size – called “Petit”:

“Petit” has 6 card compartments, two compartments for notes and miscellaneous, and a separate compartment with zip closure for coins in the middle.

It doesn’t take up much space, but can hold the most necessary things.

It has sealskin on both sides.

  • Width: 9.5 cm
  • Length: 11 cm
  • Depth: 2 cm

The familiar size of a wallet – called “Classic”:

“Classic” has 6 double card compartments, two compartments for notes and miscellaneous, and a separate compartment with zip closure for coins in the middle.

So a completely ordinary size of wallet, which also sits nicely in the hand when you quickly have to pop down to Netto or go and get an ice cream from the HjemIs van.

  • Width: 10 cm
  • Length: 16 cm
  • Depth: 2 cm

The really big, roomy wallet, which can hold a bit of everything – called “Maxi”:

“Maxi” has a full 20 card compartments, 6 compartments for notes, mobile and various papers as well as a separate compartment with zip closure for coins (or the spare key) in the middle. That is why we call it the Maxi wallet.

In fact it is so big and roomy that you can also use it as a nice little clutch.

  • Width: 15 cm
  • Length: 20 cm
  • Depth: 2 cm

Please note:

All the wallets are 2 cm thick when they come from the sewing workshop. When you start filling them, they become thicker.

The large wallets (Classic and Maxi) have Great Greenland’s logo embossed into the black calfskin on the back of the wallet.

All the wallets close well and securely with a strong zip.

Designed by:

Great Greenland and sewn in their sewing workshop.

Care of sealskin

Daily use and care:

  • Let the skin breathe: Sealskin benefits from fresh air. You do not need to pack it away if you do not use your sealskin product every day.

  • When the skin gets crumpled: If your sealskin product has become a little flat or crumpled, you can make the hairs stand up nicely again by holding it over the steam from a pot of boiling water. (mind your fingers while steaming the skin)

  • Brush with the hair: You can gently brush the skin with a soft brush. Always remember to brush with the direction of the hair (from root to tip).

Water and stains – When accidents happen:

  • Wet sealskin: Caught in a rain shower? Don’t worry! Shake off the excess water and let the skin dry naturally at room temperature.

  • Minor stains: Gently wipe with a firmly wrung-out, soft cloth with lukewarm water. Always wipe with in the direction of the hair growth.

What you should avoid

  • No direct heat: Do not place sealskin on a radiator, close to a wood-burning stove or under a hairdryer. Direct heat dries out the leather back so it becomes stiff and brittle.

  • Avoid chemicals and soap: Never use stain remover, chemicals or household soap on the skin.

  • No airtight plastic: Do not store your sealskin in airtight plastic bags. Instead choose a cloth bag or put it in a dark place, so the skin can breathe.

Bonus info about sealskin - that you didn’t know you needed to know.

Did you know this about sealskin?

We have collected some facts and secrets about sealskin that tell its fantastic story.

History, the Arctic & Sustainability

  • Seal meat is a common dish in Greenlandic cuisine and it is rich in minerals and vitamins.
  • By-catch from the hunters: Sealskin is a 100% natural by-product of the kitchen. It comes from Greenlandic hunter families, where the meat is an important local food source, and where the proud tradition is that the whole animal is used.

  • Recognised sustainability: Both the EU and Greenpeace recognise Greenlandic seal hunting as fully sustainable. The hunt takes place in deep respect for the balance of nature and biodiversity, so the stock remains healthy and strong for future generations.

  • Climate-friendly by nature: Seals live freely in the clean Arctic sea. The material requires neither feed production, farmland nor artificial water supply, which makes it one of the world’s most nature-friendly raw materials.

  • Shaped by nature’s own fingerprint: No two seals have the same pattern or play of colour in their fur. Nature’s variations mean you have a product that is absolutely one of a kind – there is not another like it in the whole world.

Properties & Practical eye-openers

  • Water-repellent by nature: Made to withstand ice-cold seawater, sealskin has a fantastic surface where snow, sleet and water simply bead off instead of soaking through.

  • Generations-long durability: The leather under the fur is incredibly hard-wearing. If you take care of it and let it dry at room temperature (never on the radiator!), a sealskin product can easily be passed on to the next generation.

  • Adapts to you: The leather base is incredibly supple. Whether it is mittens or footwear, the skin quickly moulds itself to your hands or feet for the perfect, personal fit.

  • Love of easy care: Sealskin is surprisingly easy to keep. If it gets wet, simply let it dry at room temperature and brush it gently through with in the direction of the hair – and the fur gleams again.
