Great Greenland and Inuit Sila (the Greenlandic hunters) have, together with the designer Benedicte Utzon, made a good little video that explains in an easy way why you can be proud to use sealskin.
Before you watch the video, imagine that you have just invested in these boots:

and on your way out of the door you meet your neighbour, who looks at your new shoes with raised eyebrows.
How would you react to that? Duck, or straighten your back?
After you have watched the video you have a few good answers to hand, should you run into someone who does not understand why you wear sealskin boots or love sealskin bags
Take a well-deserved break and put your feet up while you watch the film. It takes just under 3 minutes.
Did you notice that it was said:
“The Greenlander lives off nature, with nature and for nature“
“They catch the animals in order to live off them“
Bonus info:
Seal meat is a perfectly ordinary food in Greenlandic cooking.
The Greenlandic national dish is called “suaasat” and consists of rice, boiled seal meat and onion.
The sealskin is the hunter’s bonus catch.
Instead of throwing it on the tip, he sells it to Great Greenland, who refine the skin.
That is why sealskin is some of the most genuine and original material you can get.
By all means wear sealskin with a clear conscience all winter.
There is nothing better than having warm feet and knowing that what you do is also good for others.
