Description
House shoes in sealskin for men and women
You can get a beautiful classic house shoe (slippers) in sealskin.
Over the past while we have received several enquiries from men looking for a more masculine house shoe in sealskin,
that is, not the “frilly” house shoe in sealskin and beautiful fur trim in arctic fox, which a great many women simply love to wear because it is so beautiful and lovely and warm.
One of our seamstresses has made a nice house shoe, a real indoor shoe, which you can also use if you just have to step outside for a moment.
Sealskin is a material from sustainable hunting.
A skilled hunter goes out to sea because he has to provide food for his family.
Instead of letting the skin rot away in nature, he sells it to Great Greenland, which processes the skin so that it can be used for clothes, shoes and bags.
For generations Greenlandic women have made house shoes of sealskin for their families.
Practical information about House shoes in Sealskin for men and women
Is there anything more annoying than having to get out of your warm, comfortable house shoes just because you have to pop down to the car with something or take out the bin?
You don’t have to with these house shoes.
They have a good rubber sole that is good both on the living-room floor and out on the pavement or down in the backyard,
while at the same time your foot and toes are pampered and kept warm in the soft lamb’s wool that the house shoe is lined with.
The upper is made of beautiful glossy Greenland sealskin.
Sizes:
Available from size 36 – 46
NB: Size 41 is sold out
Colour:
Natural Greenland sealskin.
It is ringed seal because the markings on the skin look like rings in different sizes and shapes.
Model:
Slip-on shoe without heel counter.
The English would call such a model a “slipper”
External measurements: (Size 41)
- Length: 28 cm
- Width: 10.5 cm
Please note: The measurements are taken on the shoe sole, which means that both are external measurements.
Lining:
On the inside the house shoe is lined with a white, thick lambskin, where no chrome or nickel has been used in connection with the tanning of the skin.
Sole:
Brown rubber sole with a wavy pattern. (See photos)
This means the sole is non-slip, because it has that wavy pattern underneath.
You can also walk outside in these house shoes, so you don’t need to change into other shoes when you have to take out the bin.
Right now you are only 48 hours and 3 clicks away from being able to pamper your cold feet with a pair of warm, beautiful slippers
(which your friends will even envy you for)
It is good style.

Care of sealskin
Daily use and care:
-
Let the skin breathe: Sealskin benefits from fresh air. You do not need to pack it away if you do not use your sealskin product every day.
-
When the skin gets crumpled: If your sealskin product has become a little flat or crumpled, you can make the hairs stand up nicely again by holding it over the steam from a pot of boiling water. (mind your fingers while steaming the skin)
-
Brush with the hair: You can gently brush the skin with a soft brush. Always remember to brush with the direction of the hair (from root to tip).
Water and stains – When accidents happen:
-
Wet sealskin: Caught in a rain shower? Don’t worry! Shake off the excess water and let the skin dry naturally at room temperature.
-
Minor stains: Gently wipe with a firmly wrung-out, soft cloth with lukewarm water. Always wipe with in the direction of the hair growth.
What you should avoid
-
No direct heat: Do not place sealskin on a radiator, close to a wood-burning stove or under a hairdryer. Direct heat dries out the leather back so it becomes stiff and brittle.
-
Avoid chemicals and soap: Never use stain remover, chemicals or household soap on the skin.
-
No airtight plastic: Do not store your sealskin in airtight plastic bags. Instead choose a cloth bag or put it in a dark place, so the skin can breathe.

We have collected some facts and secrets about sealskin that tell its fantastic story.
History, the Arctic & Sustainability
-
By-catch from the hunters: Sealskin is a 100% natural by-product of the kitchen. It comes from Greenlandic hunter families, where the meat is an important local food source, and where the proud tradition is that the whole animal is used.
-
Recognised sustainability: Both the EU and Greenpeace recognise Greenlandic seal hunting as fully sustainable. The hunt takes place in deep respect for the balance of nature and biodiversity, so the stock remains healthy and strong for future generations.
-
Climate-friendly by nature: Seals live freely in the clean Arctic sea. The material requires neither feed production, farmland nor artificial water supply, which makes it one of the world’s most nature-friendly raw materials.
-
Shaped by nature’s own fingerprint: No two seals have the same pattern or play of colour in their fur. Nature’s variations mean you have a product that is absolutely one of a kind – there is not another like it in the whole world.
Properties & Practical eye-openers
-
Water-repellent by nature: Made to withstand ice-cold seawater, sealskin has a fantastic surface where snow, sleet and water simply bead off instead of soaking through.
-
Generations-long durability: The leather under the fur is incredibly hard-wearing. If you take care of it and let it dry at room temperature (never on the radiator!), a sealskin product can easily be passed on to the next generation.
-
Adapts to you: The leather base is incredibly supple. Whether it is mittens or footwear, the skin quickly moulds itself to your hands or feet for the perfect, personal fit.
-
Love of easy care: Sealskin is surprisingly easy to keep. If it gets wet, simply let it dry at room temperature and brush it gently through with in the direction of the hair – and the fur gleams again.
