Description

Gloves in shearling for women – a clear winter favourite.

A simple and classic fingered glove in shearling for women.

Fingered gloves in shearling are practical, because you don’t have to take them off when you need to enter a PIN code, open your bike lock or anything else where you need to use your index finger.

Shearling gloves keep your hands warm when it is cold and are a good alternative to sealskin mittens.

A little practical information about the glove in shearling.

Colour:

dyed in a beautiful cognac colour = light brown (see photo)

Size:

The glove in shearling is available in 4 sizes:

  • Small – corresponds to size 7
  •  Medium – corresponds to size 7.5
  •  Large – corresponds to size 8
  •  X-Large – which corresponds to size 8.5
  • XX-Large – which corresponds to size 9

Bonus info:

Sizes Small and Medium fit a woman’s hand best.

Size Large etc. fit a man’s hand well

because REMEMBER:

Shearling is a soft material and it moulds to your hand and expands a little with use

How to find your glove size:

Measure the circumference of your hand (under the knuckles and over the thumb)

If the result is between:

  • 17 – 18 cm = choose size small
  • 18 – 19 cm = choose size medium
  • 19 – 20 cm = choose size large
  • 20 – 21 cm = choose size X-large
  • 21 – 22 cm = choose size XX-large

If you are on the fence between 2 sizes, you should choose the smaller size.

Skin is a soft material and it stretches with use and moulds to fit your hand.

Bonus info:

Sizes Small and Medium typically fit a woman’s hand.

Sizes Large – XXL fit a man’s hand.

REMEMBER:

shearling is a soft material, which expands and adapts to your hand when you use the gloves.

Lining:

the gloves are lined with white, delicious, warm shearling, which lies softly around your fingers and hand.

TIP – this is how you make your glove in shearling more exclusive to look at:

Fold the edge down a little over the glove, and you get a fine white fur trim, and your perhaps slightly boring glove in shearling suddenly becomes much more elegant to look at.

Pull the sleeve out over the gloves and you get better protection against the winter cold, because you keep your wrist warm.

Suggestion for your wish list:

You can add the gloves to your wish list.
Tell your friends and family what you want, and that they can get gift cards at Sika-mut, so you can choose what you want yourself.

Sizes and Measurements

Size & Measurements for gloves and mittens in shearling.

It is important to us that you get exactly the right size the first time. Our shearling mittens are, as a starting point normal in size – so choose the size you normally use.

3 good things to remember when you choose:

  • Shearling stretches: Shearling is a soft natural material that quickly moulds to your hand. If the mitten feels a little tight at first, it will expand and adapt perfectly.

  • Are you between two sizes? Then we recommend that you choose the smaller size, as the skin stretches with use.

  • Handmade uniqueness: As all our products are 100% handmade, small millimetre deviations in the measurements may occur.

How to find your glove size:

  • How to measure your hand:

    • Width (W): Lay a soft measuring tape flat around your hand at the widest point (across the knuckles, but without the thumb). Make a loose fist while measuring – that way you can be sure the mitten won’t be tight when you grip the handlebars or the handle.

    • Length (L): Measure on the palm side from the tip of your middle finger down to about 5 cm past the wrist bone.

Measure the circumference of your hand with a tape measure (under the knuckles and over the thumb):

Hand circumference Size Corresponds to glove size:.
17 – 18 cm Small Size 7
18 – 19 cm Medium Size 7.5
19 – 20 cm Large Size 8
20 – 21 cm X-Large Size 8.5

Care of shearling

Daily use and care:

  • Give it peace and air: Shearling benefits greatly from being aired out – preferably in slightly damp weather (but not in pouring rain). The fresh weather cleans the wool naturally.

  • Protect the leather side: Before you use your shearling product for the first time, we recommend giving the leather side a mild waterproofing spray intended for leather/suede.

When accidents happen – Cleaning

  • Dry stains: If you have got dust or dry dirt on the leather side, it can often be gently brushed off with a soft leather or suede brush.

  • Spilled liquid: Dab immediately with a dry, absorbent cloth (avoid rubbing the dirt into the leather). If necessary, you can wipe lightly with a slightly dampened cloth with clean, lukewarm water.

NOTE:
Contact your local dry cleaner in case of bigger accidents. They can advise and help you with the best skin cleaning.

What you should avoid

  • Avoid soaking: Shearling tolerates a light drip, but should not be soaked.

  • No artificial drying: Always let shearling dry slowly in a ventilated room. Tumble dryers, radiators and direct sunlight are absolutely forbidden.

  • Go easy on detergents: Never use ordinary washing powder or washing-up liquid.

Bonus info about shearling - what you didn't know you needed to know

Do you want to know the story behind the material shearling?

We have gathered a number of fun facts, historical eureka moments and secrets about shearling, which make your new purchase even more special.

History, Nature & Craft

  • A genuine 2-in-1 from nature: Shearling is not composed of two different layers that are sewn or glued together. The leather and the soft wool are one and the same piece of natural material – with the hard-wearing leather side outwards and the warm wool inwards.

  • From food culture to luxury: Just as with our other materials, shearling is a direct by-product of food production. By using the skin from the animal we ensure that nothing goes to waste, but is instead transformed into beautiful and durable craft.

  • Favourite of historic air heroes: During the First and Second World Wars, fighter pilots wore heavy shearling jackets. In the uninsulated aircraft kilometres up, shearling was the only material that could keep the pilots warm in the extremely biting cold.

  • Built-in “patina guarantee”: Shearling is a living material that only becomes more beautiful with time. The more you use it, the more character, softness and personal soul the leather side gets.

Performance & Unique properties

  • Nature’s own air conditioning: Shearling has a fantastic ability to regulate temperature. The dense wool inside insulates against biting cold, while at the same time letting the skin breathe, so you neither become damp nor overheated.

  • Self-cleaning with lanolin: The wool fibres on the inside naturally contain the fat lanolin. Lanolin makes the wool naturally repellent to dirt, dust and bacteria – which is why shearling rarely needs a proper wash.

  • Revives in damp air: If the wool or leather feels a little flat after long use, simply hang the shearling out in damp weather (e.g. in the morning under a lean-to roof). The moisture in the air makes the wool fibres elastic again and brings the fullness back to life.

  • Naturally resistant to wind: The leather side works as an effective, natural wind shield, while the wool side captures body heat. That makes shearling products unsurpassed for the changeable Nordic weather.

Comfort & Sensitive skin

  • Wonderful softness against the skin: The natural crimp in the shearling wool creates tiny air cushions against the skin, which distribute pressure and warmth evenly. That gives an incomparable, soft comfort.

  • Absorbs moisture without feeling wet: Shearling can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture without feeling wet or cold to the touch at all.

  • Timeless durability: Shearling is one of the most hard-wearing natural materials there is. If you just take a little care of it, you have a product that lasts for decades – and that can easily be passed down.
