A shearling hat is a hit when it is frosty, snowy and cold.
Great to wear when you are off on your bike, waiting for a bus / train or just out for a forest walk with the family.
The shearling hat is soft, warm and super lovely to wear, while you can be sure you look good when you have it on – what’s not to like?
A little practical information about the hat in shearling:
Materials:
The hat is sewn in shearling.
Shearling is lambskin with 2 sides.
A smooth, suede-like side, which here is dyed cognac, and a white, soft fur side.
Shearling is a 100% natural material, which allows your skin to breathe freely.
Size:
Our shearling hat is sewn to a head circumference of 58 cm, but can be adjusted in circumference around the head with the Velcro straps. (See photos)
That means it fits most head circumferences, and the size depends on how tightly you close the hat with the Velcro straps.
However, we would not recommend it for a very small head.
The fit:
The hat sits well on the head whether you wear it as an earflap hat or as a shearling hat.
Tips for the shearling hat:
You can either close it under the chin with the Velcro straps, or you can gather the earflaps on top of the hat using the Velcro strap.
That way you transform the shearling hat into a shearling hat with its flaps up.
Colour:
The shearling hat is sewn in a beautiful classic cognac colour, which is timeless and can be used with most winter wardrobes.
It is also a good colour that suits most people.
Waterproofing:
Shearling is water-repellent but not 100%.
Therefore it is important that you waterproof the hat when you get it.
Pay extra attention to joins and seams, so small raindrops don’t find their way in to your hair through them.
Washing instructions:
The hat must not be washed.
If you get a stain on the outside, you can use a cloth and some lukewarm water to remove the stain.
If you need to freshen up the hat, hang it outside, preferably in frosty weather.
Alternatively contact your local dry cleaner. They will definitely give you tips and tricks with pleasure.

Care of shearling
Daily use and care:

Give it peace and air: Shearling benefits greatly from being aired out – preferably in slightly damp weather (but not in pouring rain). The fresh weather cleans the wool naturally.

Protect the leather side: Before you use your shearling product for the first time, we recommend giving the leather side a mild waterproofing spray intended for leather/suede.
When accidents happen – Cleaning

Dry stains: If you have got dust or dry dirt on the leather side, it can often be gently brushed off with a soft leather or suede brush.

Spilled liquid: Dab immediately with a dry, absorbent cloth (avoid rubbing the dirt into the leather). If necessary, you can wipe lightly with a slightly dampened cloth with clean, lukewarm water.
NOTE:
Contact your local dry cleaner in case of bigger accidents. They can advise and help you with the best skin cleaning.
What you should avoid

Avoid soaking: Shearling tolerates a light drip, but should not be soaked.

No artificial drying: Always let shearling dry slowly in a ventilated room. Tumble dryers, radiators and direct sunlight are absolutely forbidden.

Go easy on detergents: Never use ordinary washing powder or washing-up liquid.

Self-cleaning with lanolin: The wool fibres on the inside naturally contain the fat lanolin. Lanolin makes the wool naturally repellent to dirt, dust and bacteria – which is why shearling rarely needs a proper wash.

Revives in damp air: If the wool or leather feels a little flat after long use, simply hang the shearling out in damp weather (e.g. in the morning under a lean-to roof). The moisture in the air makes the wool fibres elastic again and brings the fullness back to life.
